How to use AI to find wedding suppliers who are right for you, not simply the ones with the biggest following

Planning a wedding can feel a little overwhelming.

Suddenly you need to find a venue, photographer, florist, celebrant, cake maker, DJ, videographer, hair and makeup artist, stationery designer…and somehow you’re expected to know which ones are the right ones for you.

You search Google.

You scroll Instagram.

You ask friends.

You look at endless wedding directories.

And eventually, everyone starts to blur into one giant Pinterest board of beautiful weddings.

But here’s a wedding planning hack I think more couples should know about:

Use ChatGPT to help you find your wedding suppliers.

And I’m not talking about simply typing:

“Who are the best wedding photographers in Cambridgeshire?”

There is a much, much better way to do it.

Don’t ask ChatGPT for the “best” wedding photographer. Ask it for the right one.

This is the bit I really want couples to understand.

There isn’t one universally “best” wedding photographer.

The photographer who is perfect for one couple could be completely wrong for another.

Maybe you want someone who will spend two hours creating dramatic, editorial portraits.

Maybe you want someone who will barely interrupt the day and quietly document everything as it happens.

Maybe you love beautifully posed photographs.

Maybe the thought of posing makes you want to hide behind the nearest bridesmaid.

Maybe you’re incredibly sentimental and the photographs you’re most excited about are actually your dad’s face as you walk down the aisle, your grandmother laughing with your cousins, or your friends absolutely losing it on the dance floor.

Those things matter.

And they’re exactly the sort of things you can tell ChatGPT about.

The secret is to give it your personality, not just your postcode

If you’re looking for a Cambridgeshire wedding photographer, of course location matters.

But it shouldn’t be the only thing you tell it.

Think about what you actually want your wedding photographs to feel like.

Do you want:

• Natural, emotional photographs?
• Relaxed photographs that don’t feel heavily posed?
• Lots of candid moments?
• Beautiful portraits but without spending hours away from your guests?
• A photographer who is calm and reassuring?
• Someone who will make you laugh when you’re feeling nervous?

• Someone who will confidently organise family photographs when needed?
• Photographs that feel timeless rather than heavily influenced by current trends?
• Photographs that tell the story of your whole day?
• Images that make you feel something when you look at them twenty years from now?

Those details can be far more useful than simply searching for “top wedding photographer Cambridge”.

And there is a reason I’m particularly passionate about this.

Your wedding photographs aren’t really about the photographs.

They’re about the people in them.

The hand your dad squeezes.

The look between you and your new husband or wife when nobody else is watching.

Your best friend crying during the ceremony.

Your nan laughing at something your uncle has said.

The chaos of getting ready.

The slightly wonky hug.

The ridiculous dance moves.

The quiet five minutes you spend together after the ceremony when you finally realise:

Those are the photographs that can become incredibly precious.

This is where the hack gets really useful.

Instead of asking ChatGPT to give you a generic list of suppliers, give it a proper brief.

Copy and paste this:

“We’re planning our wedding and I’d like help finding wedding suppliers who are a good fit for us rather than simply the most popular suppliers.

Our wedding is at [VENUE] in [LOCATION], Cambridgeshire, on [DATE].

We’re [describe yourselves — introverted/extroverted, relaxed, sentimental, fun, traditional, alternative, etc.].

Our photography budget is approximately £[BUDGET].

We want wedding photographs that feel [natural/emotional/romantic/documentary/editorial/nostalgic/etc.]. We’re not particularly comfortable being heavily posed and we’d prefer our photographer to capture genuine moments as they happen, while still giving us some beautiful portraits.

The most important photographs to us are [family/emotional moments/guests/dancing/details/portraits/etc.].

We want a photographer who is [calm/friendly/funny/unobtrusive/organised/etc.].

Please search current websites, reviews and portfolios and recommend photographers who genuinely appear to match our personality, photography style, location and budget.

For each photographer, explain WHY they might be a good fit for us, what their photography style appears to be, where they’re based, whether they photograph weddings in our area and anything we should consider before contacting them.

Don’t simply rank photographers by awards, follower numbers or popularity. Prioritise suitability and personality fit.”

And here’s the really important bit:

Ask ChatGPT to explain its reasoning.

Don’t just accept a list of names.

Ask:

“Why have you recommended these photographers for us?”

That is where AI becomes much more useful.

And this is where things get really exciting.

You can use exactly the same principle for almost every supplier you need.

Looking for a wedding florist?

Tell ChatGPT:

“We love natural, slightly wild, romantic flowers rather than very formal arrangements. We want seasonal flowers and lots of movement and texture. Our venue is a countryside barn in Cambridgeshire and our budget is £1,200.”

Suddenly you’re not just searching for:

“Cambridgeshire wedding florist.”

You’re searching for someone whose work actually fits your wedding.

Looking for a wedding cake maker?

Tell it:

“We want a beautiful but slightly imperfect, romantic wedding cake. We love fruit, flowers and vintage details and don’t want something that looks too polished or corporate.”

Looking for a DJ?

Tell it:

“We’re a couple in our thirties who love 90s and 00s music, indie, disco and cheesy classics. We want a packed dance floor but absolutely don’t want a DJ who spends the evening shouting into the microphone.”

You get the idea.

The more specific you are, the more useful the recommendations become.

But there’s one thing AI can’t tell you…

And this is really important.

You still need to do your homework.

ChatGPT can help you discover suppliers, but it shouldn’t make the final decision for you.

Check their actual website.

Read recent reviews.

Check that they’re genuinely available for your date.

Look at their pricing.

Check exactly what is included.

And most importantly:

Talk to them.

Because your wedding photographer is someone who is going to be around you for a lot of your wedding day.

You’re not just buying photographs.

You’re choosing a person.

If you’re nervous about being photographed, you need someone who makes you feel comfortable.

If you’re incredibly emotional, you need someone who understands that.

If your family is wonderfully chaotic, you probably need someone who can handle that too!

And if you’re sentimental like me?

You want someone who understands why the photograph of your mum watching you get married might be just as important as the photograph of the two of you.

Five things you want your wedding day to feel like.

Maybe:

Relaxed.

Then write down:

Five things you absolutely don’t want.

Rushed.
Posed.
Impersonal.

Now put those into ChatGPT.

Tell it about your venue, your budget, your location and your personalities.

Then ask it to help you find suppliers who fit that description.

I think you’ll be surprised by how different the results can feel.
